Biography
John D. Carpenter has over 20 years of experience in intellectual property law. He manages patent and trademark portfolios for a varied clientele, including large companies, start-ups, universities, and individuals. He specializes in foreign and domestic patent prosecution, particularly in the areas of chemistry and life sciences. He also has extensive experience handling reexamination proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Carpenter has particular technical experience in the fields of chemistry, life sciences, materials science, medical devices, energy, and pharmaceuticals. Key technology areas include C-H bond activation (fuels and chemicals), environmental remediation, pressure-sensitive adhesives, ink-receptive coatings, polymer chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, radiochemistry and imaging, Alzheimer's Disease probes, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, antireflective coatings and spectacle lens fabrication, and plastic films.
Mr. Carpenter is a present member of the firm's Employment Committee and Marketing Committee, a past member of the firm's Collections Committee, and the former editor of the firm's newsletter.
